Networks
A network is a named group of devices and gateways that belong together, like the equipment in one building or a logical cluster. Networks give you a quick way to filter your fleet and to roll equipment up for reporting.
Networks are a plan feature. If you don't see Networks under Operations in the sidebar, your provider hasn't enabled them for your workspace. Ask them if you'd like it turned on.
What networks are for
A network groups devices and gateways so you can:
- Filter quickly. On your device and gateway lists, pick a network to see only its equipment.
- Group like a location. A network is a coarse "where" for the equipment in it, which is why you can also set a device's or gateway's network from its Location screen. If your plan includes sites, a network can also belong to a site, and everything in the network takes its site automatically.
- Roll up. Each network shows how many devices and gateways it contains.
A device or gateway belongs to one network at a time. Adding it to a second network moves it out of the first.
Who can do what

Create a network
- Go to Operations -> Networks.
- Click Create network.
- Name the network (required), and optionally add a description.
- Click Create.
You land on the network's page, ready to add devices and gateways.
On the network page
The network page gives you everything for one network in one place:
- Counts at the top show how many devices and how many gateways the network contains.
- A Devices tab and a Gateways tab list the members. Each row shows the equipment's name, its identifier, and its health, online or offline, the same indicator used on your device lists.
- Edit details changes the name or description; Delete removes the network.
Use the Networks link in the breadcrumb at the top to get back to the full list.
Add devices and gateways
There are three ways to put equipment into a network. They all do the same thing, so use whichever fits the moment.
From the network page
On the Devices or Gateways tab, click Add devices (or Add gateways), pick from the list of equipment not yet in a network, and add the ones you want. Use Add all ungrouped to populate a large network in one step.
In bulk from your device list
This is the best path when you are working with many devices.
- Open your device or gateway list (under Fleet).
- Narrow it with the search box and the network filter (for example Ungrouped to find equipment not yet in a network).
- Tick the rows you want.
- In the bar that appears, choose a network under Set network, and apply it to the selected rows or to every row matching your current filter. To take equipment out of a network this way, choose None (ungroup) instead.
From a device or gateway
On a device's or gateway's Location screen there is a Network field. Pick a network to add it, or clear the field to remove it.
Filter your fleet by network
On your device and gateway lists, the network filter narrows the list to a single network, or to Ungrouped for equipment not in any network. A Network column shows where each item sits.
Remove and delete
- Remove members. On the network page, tick devices or gateways and click Remove selected. They stay in your workspace, they are just no longer in the network.
- Delete the network. On the network page, click Delete. The network is removed and everything in it becomes ungrouped. The devices and gateways themselves are not deleted.
